What is NAD+ therapy?

NAD+ is a coenzyme central to cellular energy metabolism and DNA repair, and its levels decline with age. It is offered as a compounded preparation by subcutaneous injection or intravenous infusion. It is not FDA-approved for this use, clinical evidence for longevity outcomes in humans is limited, and protocols are not standardised. Infusion is commonly associated with flushing and discomfort, which is rate-dependent.

Which biomarkers matter most in longevity care?

The most informative markers tend to be metabolic and cardiovascular rather than exotic. ApoB gives a better picture of atherogenic risk than total cholesterol. Fasting insulin and HbA1c describe glycaemic control before overt disease. hs-CRP captures inflammatory burden. Beyond those, hormonal markers appropriate to your age and sex, and liver and kidney function to establish a baseline. What matters is tracking the same markers over time.

What is NAD+?

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is a coenzyme present in every cell, involved in the reactions that release energy from nutrients and in a range of cellular repair and signalling processes. Tissue levels are reported to decline with age. It is an active area of research, and it is important to distinguish what is established biochemistry from what is still under investigation.

What forms does NAD+ therapy take?

It is offered as intravenous infusion, subcutaneous injection, and as oral precursors such as nicotinamide riboside and nicotinamide mononucleotide. These differ substantially in how they are absorbed and in how they are regulated — oral precursors are generally sold as supplements rather than prescribed. Any injectable preparation should come from a licensed pharmacy against a prescription.

What does a longevity panel actually measure?

Typically a broad set of markers spanning metabolic health, inflammation, lipids including ApoB and Lp(a), thyroid and sex hormones, kidney and liver function, iron studies and vitamin status. The value is in tracking the same markers over time against your own baseline rather than in any single reading. Interpretation is done by a provider in the context of your history.

Are biological age tests meaningful?

Biological age scores are derived from algorithms applied to biomarkers or to epigenetic methylation patterns, and different methods can return different numbers for the same person. They are of research interest, and they are not diagnostic. Treat them as one framing of your data rather than as a clinical result.
