Why is haematocrit monitored on testosterone therapy?

Testosterone can increase red blood cell production, which raises haematocrit — the proportion of blood made up of red cells. Because a rise can occur without symptoms, it is tracked with periodic bloodwork rather than by how you feel. If haematocrit rises beyond an acceptable range, a provider may adjust the dose, change the interval, or pause therapy.
